The Hidden Agenda

IT'S NOT SABOTAGE IF YOU CALL IT STRATEGY.

The Conspiracy No One Talks About

Virginia Tech football has been on a steady downward spiral since Whit Babcock became athletic director in 2014. To most people, it looks like bad hires, bad luck, and bad football. But what if it’s something darker? What if Whit isn’t just incompetent… what if he’s a Mountaineer mole?

Once you see it laid out, you can’t unsee it.

Evidence of the Sabotage

Uncovering the truth behind Virginia Tech's decline.

1. The Bud Foster Betrayal

Bud Foster was the natural successor to Frank Beamer. He lived and breathed Hokie football, and his defenses struck fear across the country. But when it came time to name a head coach, Babcock turned his back on Bud. Why? Because keeping Bud meant keeping Virginia Tech strong. That wasn’t part of the plan.

2. The Fuente Fiasco

Instead, Whit hand-picked Justin Fuente, a coach who looked like he’d rather chew glass than recruit in Virginia. Fuente was moody, disconnected, and clearly miserable in Blacksburg. He alienated fans, players, and recruits alike—just what WVU needed. Some even say he was promised a lifetime supply of moonshine in Morgantown for services rendered.

3. The Trophy Factor

Notice how the Black Diamond Trophy series was paused? Convenient, right? Whit knew Tech still had the edge back then, so he delayed the matchup until he could drag the Hokies into mediocrity. Only when the program was weakened would WVU return to the rivalry.

4. Recruiting Sabotage

Virginia used to be Hokie country. The 757, NOVA, the whole state fed talent into Blacksburg. Under Babcock, those pipelines dried up. Top recruits fled to Penn State, UNC… even WVU. Hokie Nation lost its backyard advantage while Whit smiled from the shadows.

5. The Lane Stadium Curse

Once the loudest stadium in college football, Lane has lost its edge. “Enter Sandman” used to shake the earth. Now? It feels like a library. Attendance is down, energy is gone—and who let that happen? Whit. WVU players used to fear Lane; now they see it as a vacation.

6. The Timeline of Doom

Every Hokie low point traces back to Whit’s decisions.

  • 2014: Whit hired → Beamer announces retirement.

  • 2016: Fuente hired → Harambe dies (coincidence?).

  • 2018: Recruiting collapse begins.

  • 2020: Lane Stadium empties out.

  • 2023: WVU improves just as Tech crumbles.

It’s a timeline so suspicious it makes Watergate look like a filing error.
